Fifth Annual Workshop

November 17, 2008.
8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

We are pleased to announce an NIH sponsored workshop entitled “Diagnostics of Invasive Aspergillosis: From Experimental Models to Clinical Evaluation”. This is the first annual workshop for the AsTeC group and the fifth annual IAAM workshop. We anticipate participation by a diverse group of approximately 40 experts in the field of Aspergillus representing Academia, Industry and Government. The combined workshop will cover animal models of pulmonary aspergillosis and the development and testing of various modes of Aspergillus diagnostics in the experimental and clinical settings. Our purpose is to discuss and establish critical gaps in Aspergillus diagnostics, to discuss new developments in this critical field, and to describe resources that are being made available to you by the NIH.

We have planned two main themes. First, we’ll have several representatives from each group make short presentations summarizing the work we have accomplished and our expectations for the near future. We’ll include ample time for discussion. Second, we have invited several investigators from industry and academics to make short presentations summarizing their research in Aspergillus diagnostics. We will also have time for discussion afterwards.

The workshop is scheduled for November 17th from 8:30 am-5:00 pm at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda, Bethesda MD (301) 657-1234. Please review the workshop topics below, and please contact Connie LaBeaux at 210-567-4627 (labeaux@uthscsa.edu) or Lawrie Morrison at 352-273-7760 (lawrie.morrison@medicine.ufl.edu) for a detailed agenda and registration materials.

Space is limited, registration will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
